Monday April 30th: MAINE to VERMONT

This morning we woke up to bright sunshine, cool temperatures, and this crazy person.
He’s had his own special little pop-up tent that we put up right outside the camper and he’s quite happy in it!  What a goof!
Today’s theme is the Pacific to Atlantic 2012!!!  Even though we have been at the Atlantic Coast all the way up from South Carolina today it hit home because we are the farthest east on the Atlantic Ocean
Our Maine KOA is so spread out and rustic.  The bathrooms walls and stalls are rustic cedar  wood and there are  moose decorations everywhere . . . I think there are a lot Moose here!   Dave kept seeing yellow signs while he was driving that said,  “Beware of Moose Crossing”.    We also found a couple of ticks in our camper – yep, it is rustic!
Before we left this adorable town, we just had to stop at the L.L. Bean one more time.  All the kids had to go to the bathroom anyway!   Shelley bought a Loster Sandwich at the local Lily Bean's Cafe (the owner is a grandaughter to L.L. Bean owners), I made each of my kids try it.  Brittany thought it was ok, but Brandon and Brooke totally churned their faces at it with a disgusted look!  Oh well, try again in a few years.
We drove to the Pine Point beach  close to the border of Maine & New Hampshire to experience the North Atlantic beach and boy was it cold and windy.   It felt a lot like Bodega B        ay in the summer.   Quite a difference from South Carolina’s Atlantic Beach that was warm.  The water is 40 degrees right now and will only get up to 55 degrees in the summer, per the LL Bean fish and game expert!!  The driftwood is awesome but not much sea glass or shells.  We gathered some sand for our collection and took some beautiful beach pictures.  Hard to believe that we are all the way east across the country and now we will start heading west again.

We stopped at the Kiittery Trading Post right on the border of Maine, to look for shirts and sweatshirts.    Trading Post is definitely a good name for it . . . it had fun “mountain / cabin” type items along with a large selection of warm clothing (jackets, rain gear, boots, beanies, etc.) for the good ole’ outdoors.   We had a great time shopping there and even found some adorable moose pajamas!!  J  Then we drove for about 3 more hours to Woodstock, Vermont, to another adorable country type KOA.  The office was called the General Store.  It was right across the street from a homemade chocolate store – I think this is my favorite KOA yet!!
